Electric Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

Mercedes-Benz elaborates and plans to produce a full electric version of SLS Mercedes Benz till 2015 year. This was proclaimed by Volker Mornhinweg, a chairman of board of directors of AMG atelier.

According to Volker Mornhinweg’s speech this novelty will be provided with four electric engines made by Brusa Company. The total power of these four engines will be about hp with 880Nm of torque. One pair of engines with lithium-ion batteries will be placed in front of rear axle.

Another one will take place in engine area. SLS AMG will be able to move with 150-180 km/hr. Full batteries charging will require about eight hours of time. Developers suppose that electric Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Gullwing will accelerate till 100 km/hr in less than 4 seconds and maximal speed will be about 200km/hr.

It should be noted that gasoline version of SLS AMG with 6.2-liter V8 engine (571 hp) accelerates till 100 km/hr in 3.8 seconds with 315 km/hr of total speed. In spite of heavy electric power unit (600 kg), engineers try to save load distribution on two axles (like gasoline version has – 48%:52%). Furthermore electric car will have modernized suspension, one-speed gearbox and system of recuperation while braking. AMG plans to start tests of electric power unit in year of 2010.
