Only two engines among ones for Mercedes Benz C Class models have CGI index meaning direct fuel injection. But not yet. Two more versions (C 180 CGI and C 200 CGI) joined present C 250 CGI and C 350 CGI versions.
Younger modification is four-cylinder engine with 1.8 liters which came instead of past four-cylinder engine with 1.6 liters. This past engine had supercharger. But a new CGI will have turbocompressor. Total power won’t be changed (still 156hp), but maximal torque will be increased in 20Nm (till 250Nm).
Besides Mercedes C 180 CGI is more economical in 10%. C 180 CGI with six-speed mechanical gearbox and stop/start system consumes 6.7 liter per 100 km. C 200 CGI was called to take place instead of C 200 Kompressor. C 200 CGI also has six-speed mechanical gearbox and stop/start system consuming 6.8 liters every 100 km.
C 200 CGI is more economical in 10% comparing with C 200 Kompressor. But there are some more news relating C-Class. From now on Mercedes C 220 CDI with six-speed mechanical gearbox will have stop/start system. Thus it will consume 4.4 liter if fuel per 100 km. This is the most economical C-Class. Furthermore it is possible to order C 250 CDI with 4Matic full drive.
Sales of C 220 CDI will start in this autumn. The minimal prise for this car is about 36 000 Euro. Receiving order for sedan and wagon versions of C 250 CDI 4Matic will start in this fall too. The lowest prise is about 43 000 Euro. Also read about new V8 engine with two turbines for Mercedes Benz S Class AMG.
