Fantastic and real Mercedes-Benz Biome

Competition between german car producers comes gradually on a new level. Every company tries to overshadow other with more exotic autos. Mercedes-Benz company works at present time under elaboration of absolutely environmentally safe supercar which can be integrated in our ecosystem like a simple leaf. This car will compete with already built BMW Vision EfficientDynamics. We can remind that BMW with diesel-electric power unit will appear on a roads in fall of 2013.


Absolutely futuristic concept Mercedes-Benz Biome became the main sensation of car design contest in Los-Angeles, USA (L.A. Design Challenge). Biome practically is grown. Two sorts of plants are used for this. One sort is used for creation of interior, another one is used for body.

Interior grows from Mercedes-Benz front star, exterior starts from Mercedes-Benz rear star. Fantastic! Besides every customer can express all wishes which will be taken into account and included in plant DNA during growing stage.

According to plan Biome will be able to receive energy of the Sun and safe it like a chemical compound, called BioNectar4534.Mercedes engineers even decided to modify some sorts of trees making them to change energy of the Sun in BioNectar4534. They consider that a stimulus of planting will appear renewing ecosystem of the Earth.

Mercedes-Benz Biome will make healthier an atmosphere creating an oxygen. At the end of exploitation period Biome will be turned into a compost. Of course there are no talks about full-fledged production of BioNectar4534, but a future ecological supercar may safe the main characteristics of amazing appearance. Fantastic idea of this concept belongs rightfully to Hubert Lee the creator of F800 Style and next generation of CLS.

His elaboration reminds Audi RSQ (“I, robot” movie). Lowered suspension, classic Mercedes star located in the center of radiator guard and powerful air intakes are really charmed. Windscreen gradually coming into a roof and widely located wheels are an incarnation of future power of ecocar. As like four-seat car Mercedes-Benz Biome has a little dimensions: length – 4 m, width – 2.5 m, height – 1.2 m. The main feature is its weight (about 450kg!).

And now we have one little question. How four persons can take seat inside of this car? All great is easy! An arrangement of all seats is diamond-shaped: driver, two passengers and one passenger. Hubert Lee said that designers had elaborated Biome providing for possibility of serial production. Thus this concept can be embodied without too big costs. But proportions must be gone over again, because Biome is shorter than C-Class and wider than GL-Class.
